HindSite Client Installation Steps

This article will walk you through the steps necessary to get HindSite working on another workstation

Disclaimer: This method was added in update 24.4.3, so if you are not able to find the necessary file to complete this method, you will want to update your HindSite program to get access to it.

Determine the Network Path

  1. First, open HindSite on one of the other PCs in the office that has HindSite currently installed.
  2. Tap the F2 on your keyboard to open a small menu. First, look at the "Application Path". If the Application Path begins with \\ then this will be the network path you use (if not, go to step 3). Using the example below, the network path would be \\MSI\Hindsite. Note this down and move onto the next section, "Run the file".
  3. If your Application Path did not begin with \\ then it likely will look something like, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Hindsite" or similarly containing a letter at the front. To get the network path from this configuration, we simply need to combine two pieces. We will combine the piece in red (square) with the piece in blue (circle). In the example below, your Network Path would be \\MSI\Hindsite

Run the file

Now that we know the HindSite folder Network Path, we will navigate there and run the client installer

  1. On the new workstation, open File Explorer (Windows Key + E) and type the network path into the search bar at the top formatted as: \\<ServerName>\<FolderName> (the thing you noted down from the previous section, be sure you are using backslashes and not forward slashes)
  2. At this point, Windows will commonly prompt you for network credentials. If it doesn't then skip this step.
    1. If it prompted you for network credentials, input them. These credentials will be the login for the server, not the Hindsite login and not the login for the local workstation.
    2. If you are unsure of what network credentials are, please read this article to get a better understanding: What Are Network Credentials?
    3. The network credentials most commonly are either the local username/password used to login to the server, or they are the Microsoft account email/password tied to the admin account on the server.
    4. If you are still unable to access the folder, your IT staff will almost certainly know the correct credentials.
  3. Once the credentials are input successfully, you should now be looking at the HindSite folder
    1. Scroll down until you find the file, "Client Install"
    2. Double click it and press enter when prompted

4. Success! Go back to your desktop, find the HindSite icon, and run the program to verify it is working.
