In this article we will cover how to create “Non Service Tasks” which are services that can be placed on the schedule/route without generating an invoice.
Knowing how to create these non-service tasks will ensure you are able to manage blocking time off the calendar for meetings, PTO, unavailable time, Projects etc.
Once logged into FieldCentral, navigate to the Settings Page by clicking the gear icon within the quick access panel.
Click “Open” under Services
Click “Open” under Services & Service Categories

The “Non-Service Task” category is provided by default to all FieldCentral accounts.
Click on the arrow to the left hand side of the Service Category to expand it.
Two Non-Service Tasks are by default provided: Meeting & Sales Visit. To edit or delete click on the pencil or X icons to the right hand side.
To add a new Non Service Task/Service click the green plus button on the right side under the specific Service Category.
Since we do not want these tasks to generate invoices, this form will be completed slightly differently from regular Services.
Provide the Service Name, # of Visits (1), Use “Est Man Hrs” to determine how many hours to block off the schedule and then select one of the following from the Billing Type Drop down.
Non-Billable: Will not generate an invoice, but the visit needs to be marked complete.
Non-Service: Does not create an invoice while still allowing completion status to be tracked. (Ex. Vehicle Maintenance)
Auto-Complete: Will auto mark the visit on the schedule as complete at midnight. (Ex. PTO or Meetings)
Utilize the color options to help differentiate these tasks when placed on the schedule.
Once satisfied, click save.

Whenever these tasks/Services are placed on the schedule/route, no invoice will be generated. These are especially important to help manage time outside of scheduled Services.
